Training Name: “National Level Training Program on Dam Break Analysis (DBA) &Emergency Action Planning (EAP) ”.

Venue: IMTI, Trichy,Tamil Nadu

Period :26-30 October 2026

This program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct dam-break analysis using the HEC-RAS 2D hydraulic model and apply the results to prepare an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for a specified dam. By the end of the programme, participants should be able to develop and assess a dam-break model; prepare flood inundation maps showing flood extent, depth, velocity and arrival time; identify potentially affected habitations, villages, roads,railways; and estimate the population at risk (PAR).

Through guided practical exercises, participants will use these outputs to support evacuation planning and develop a dam-specific EAP, including emergency identification, notification procedures, roles and responsibilities, and preparedness measures, in accordance with the applicable Central Water Commission (CWC) Guidelines for Developing Emergency Action Plans for Dams.
